ANDREJA KULUNCIC::::
born in 1968, Subotica, former Yugoslavia
lives and works in Zagreb, Croatia

Kuluncic is the cofounder of the NGO multidisciplinary Authors Projects and Actions (MAPA) for art, science, and technology. Shifting away from the expression of unbound creativity, her artistic practice focuses on the creation of new models for social engagement and (often interdisciplinary) collaboration. Kuluncic’s site-specific works often take a sociopolitical problem and place it against the dominant neoliberal model of globalization. Rather than offering a solution, her art manifests polemical grounds for the rethinking and dissolution of certain institutional forms and the creation of new ones.

For Sight.Seeing
, Kuluncic delegates the recording of urban sights to individuals, who use their personal dramas and ways of seeing to transform the commonplace. each photograph in this series was taken by an asylum seeker in Graz. Photographers are identified by first name, age, the place from which they came, and the length of time they had been in Graz. their images represent places that are important to them and are accompanied by comments about their personal passage through urban space.
